Welcome to The Mossy Shell, the website of Artist Holly Cheverie.
My work is rooted in the natural world — the wild places and creatures that exist far from city life. Having an indigenous heritage shaped the way I see the world, and my paintings reflect that: nature and the spiritual aren’t separate things to me, they’re the same conversation. I try to capture the energy of the animals I paint, not just their appearance, but the sense that they belong somewhere, that they matter.
At the heart of it, I’m interested in connection — between species, between people and the land, between what we’ve lost and what’s still there if we pay attention. I hope someone standing in front of my work feels that pull, even briefly. A reason to slow down and look more carefully at what surrounds us.
